An Upstate New York father-to-be died when a bomb he was assembling for his kid’s gender reveal celebration exploded on Sunday, according to the Syracuse Post-Standard.

New York State Police confirmed in a press release that Christopher Pekny, 28, was killed at his residence in Liberty, New York. Authorities additionally confirmed WABC that Pekny was the father-to-be of the kid who was the topic of the gender reveal celebration.

State Police stated that round midday on Sunday, they responded to stories of an explosion at Pekny’s residence. Pekny’s brother, Michael Pekny, was with Christopher on the time of the explosion and suffered accidents. 

An preliminary investigation decided that Pekny died on account of the explosion.

Trooper Steven Nevel, a neighborhood spokesman for the state police, told the Times Herald-Record that Pekny’s explosive gadget “was not being constructed or made for malicious functions.”

Jenna Karvunidis, a blogger credited with beginning the viral pattern over a decade in the past, condemned the events after the El Dorado wildfire.

“Cease it,” Karvunidis wrote on Facebook. “Cease having these silly events. For the love of God, cease burning issues down to inform everybody about your child’s penis.
